It is not fully known whether the prevalence of women alcoholics has increased over the past thirty years or if the statistics reflect a decidedly higher number coming forward for treatment. No matter the reason, preponderance of female drinkers has mandated the intervention of local, state and federal programs as a means by which to address the significant problem.
