[ send me this paper ]
This 12 page report discusses “Death
Comes as the End,” published by Agatha Christie in 1945.
The novel is the story of a newly widowed woman returns to her
father’s large household in ancient Egypt, where she finds sudden
death lurking behind every corner. The world Christie creates for
the setting of her ancient murder mystery is a world in which
families are not so very different from those of the 21st century
but the question is how accurate her observations were in terms
of historical correctness. An overview of the novel is provided
and then a number of issues addressing the various aspects of
ancient Egyptian life are considered. Bibliography lists 8
