Friday Night Lights/High School Football
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page essay that draws on the book Friday Night Lights, the 1990 bestseller by H.G. Bissinger that describes a high school football program in Odessa, a small town in Texas. Bissinger quotes one of the supporters of this high school football team as saying "Life really wouldn't be worth livin' if you didn't have a high school football team to support" (Bissinger, "Friday" 20). Considering the extensive cultural and historical background that Bissinger offers in this text concerning the town of Odessa, this statement is understandable, but the degree of fanaticism that it indicates is not defensible. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
