Eulogy for Romeo.
[ send me this paper ]
(5 pp) I, Benvolio, cousin of Romeo, am honored
and indeed saddened to be the speaker, who has
been chosen to say goodbye to our dear one, struck
down early in his youth. I welcome you all to
this sad place, and hope that what I have to relate
will be of value to us all. Days ago he was
dancing. Days ago we laughed and were merry.
Days ago the two of us were speaking of love, and
the great joy that it gave to Romeo; if I did not
see him, pale before me, I would hardly believe
that this is the same man.
