A 6 page essay that argues that Shakespeare's portrayal of women in The Merchant of Venice and in Much Ado About Nothing shows that he considered women to be capable of showing intelligence and loyalty to equal any man. Beatrice through her loyalty to Hero and Portia in her dramatic defense of her husband's friend, Antonio, show that they possess intelligence, loyalty and courage equal, or superior, to the men in these plays, whom they overshadow in this regard.
