[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page paper. A great deal of research into these two mental illnesses has concluded they are diseases of the brain. While there is no cure for either, progress has been made in determining their causes. In each case, it would seem that monoamine neurotransmissions play a role. The paper begins with an explanation of neurotransmitters and specifically the functions of the monoamine neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine and how they may be involved in depression and schizophrenia. The writer than discusses the theory of eliminative materialism and its relationship to mental illness. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
